Os Cabos de Condicionamento de Modo da Tripp Lite são projetados para uso em aplicações 1000BASE-LX de Gigabit Ethernet. Eles são totalmente compatíveis com os padrões de aplicação IEEE 802.3z. Os Cabos de Condicionamento de Modo são necessários em aplicações onde novos roteadores e switches Gigabit 1000BASE-LX de alta velocidade estão sendo implantados em plantas multimodo existentes. A necessidade deste cabo de remendo se deve à natureza de lançamento de modo único dos módulos transceptores -LX ou de onda longa (1300 nm) usados para Gigabit Ethernet. Lançar um laser de modo único no centro de uma fibra multimodo pode causar a geração de múltiplos sinais que confundem o receptor na outra extremidade da fibra. Esses múltiplos sinais, causados pelos efeitos de Atraso de Modo Diferencial (DMD), limitam severamente as distâncias de cabo para operar Gigabit Ethernet. Um cabo de remendo de condicionamento de modo elimina esses múltiplos sinais, permitindo que o lançamento de modo único seja deslocado para longe do centro de uma fibra multimodo.
