SR42UBMDEXPND
The SR42UBMDEXPND is part of our new line of mid-depth rack enclosures. Our new line offers 36" (927mm) depth opposed to the standard 42" (1050mm).
The SR42UBMDEXPND is a 42U SmartRack enclosure with NO doors and NO side panels. The 'EXP' version is an expansion model used when several cabinets are bayed together. Its integrated baying tabs make it easy to combine multiple enclosures in rows for data center applications. This enclosure is also compatible with hot-aisle/cold-aisle configurations.
The SR42UBMDEXPND houses 3000 lb of standard 19-inch rack equipment in 42U. Its front and rear pairs of vertical rails have square mounting holes that are adjustable in quarter-inch increments from 4 to 31 inches. Adjustment is quick and an easy-view depth index ensures consistent rail placement without requiring time-consuming measurements. Each rack space within the enclosure is numbered for ready reference.
Two of the adjustable vertical mounting rails support toolless button-mount 0U installation of up to four compatible PDUs and cable managers. This feature makes it easier to route cabling to rack equipment and reduces cord clutter.
All components of the SR42UBMDEXPND are grounded to the enclosure frame. Front and rear threaded grounding points are provided for connection to the facility earth ground.
To simplify deployment, the SR42UBMDEXPND comes with preinstalled casters that enable it to be easily maneuvered into the desired location, where it can be secured by adjusting the preinstalled levelers. Note: the casters are intended for minor position adjustments and are not designed for moving the enclosure over long distances.
The SR42UBMDEXPND comes with a 5-year product warranty. As part of the SmartRack family, the SR42UBMDEXPND is compatible with Tripp Lite's extensive range of rackmount accessories, enabling you to customize your solution to meet any requirement.

Tripp Lite's SR42UBMDEXPND 4-Post Open Frame Rack Enclosure Cabinet is a 42U expansion model for servers, blade server chassis, network switches and other dense networking environments where physical space is an issue. With no doors or side panels, the SR42UBMDEXPND is designed to simplify growing rack equipment installations. This premium 42U enclosure cabinet is packed with features designed to simplify rack equipment installations and rack equipment maintenance: shallower depth, top-panel cable routing ports, perforated doors to promote efficient airflow, adjustable mounting rails, toolless vertical PDU mounting and more. And as part of the SmartRack® family, the SR42UBMDEXPND is compatible with Tripp Lite's extensive range of rackmount accessories, enabling you to customize your solution to meet any requirement. The SR42UBMDEXPND ships fully assembled for quick installation.
No Doors or Side Panels - Perfect for Expanding Row Configurations
The SR42UBMDEXPND contains no doors or side panels, making it a perfect expansion enclosure cabinet for applications where several cabinets are bayed together. Its integrated baying tabs make it easy to combine multiple enclosure cabinets in rows for expanding data center applications. The center-to-center width can be set at 600 mm (24 in.) to match standard data center floor tiles. The SR42UBMDEXPND offers guaranteed compatibility with all EIA-310-E compliant 19-in. equipment, and is also 100% compatible with today's state-of-the-art hot-aisle/cold-aisle data center configurations.

The SR42UBMDEXPND’s 36-in. footprint falls between shallow depth and standard models, making it a perfect rack cabinet solution for space-limited installations that require a precise fit.
Designed for Simple Equipment Installation
The SR42UBMDEXPND’s front and rear pairs of vertical rails with square mounting holes are adjustable in quarter-inch increments to accommodate equipment depths from 4 to 31 inches. Adjustment is quick and convenient—simply unscrew the rails, slide them to the desired depth and restore the screws. An easy-view depth index ensures consistent rail placement without requiring time-consuming measurements. The rails feature square mounting holes and are capable of supporting up to 3000 lbs. of equipment with included installation hardware. Each rack space within the enclosure cabinet is numbered for ready reference.
Toolless Vertical Mounting Rails Support 0U PDU and Cable Manager Installations
The SR42UBMDEXPND features two adjustable vertical mounting rails that support toolless button-mount 0U installation of compatible PDUs and cable managers. Each rail can accommodate two vertical PDUs or cable managers side by side, for a total of four units per enclosure cabinet. These vertical mounting rails make it easier to route power and cabling to installed rack equipment and are ideal for network switches that have side-to-side airflow and forward-facing ports.
Vented Top Panel with Cable Ports Promotes Efficient Airflow and Keeps Cables Organized
The top panel of the SR42UBMDEXPND is furnished with vents that help remove warm air from the enclosure cabinet and draw in cool air by convection. It also supports installation of standard user-supplied case fans. The top panel contains cable routing ports and is designed for quick, toolless removal with no need to disconnect cables. An open bottom facilitates cable access.
Convenient Grounding System
All components of the SR42UBMDEXPND are grounded to the enclosure cabinet frame. Front and rear threaded grounding points are provided for connection to the facility earth ground.
Preinstalled Casters and Leveling Feet Provide Precise Placement
To simplify deployment, the SR42UBMDEXPND ships fully assembled with preinstalled casters and leveling feet. The casters allow the SR42UBMDEXPND to be easily maneuvered through standard commercial doorways and into the desired location, where it can then be secured in place by adjusting the leveling feet. The SR42UBMDEXPND has a rolling load capacity of 2250 lbs., enabling rack equipment to be installed in the enclosure cabinet prior to final deployment. Note: The casters are intended for minor position adjustments within the final installation area only and are not designed for moving the enclosure cabinet over long distances.
